With junior year fast approaching, the school was abuzz with beginning to worry about SAT, and what colleges everyone eventually wanted to attend. Unfortunately, once I got sick my plans drastically changed, but the one thing that has never wavered is a personal goal to attend college. Even though my path differed a bit and I had to take a leave of absence from high school to regain my health and take care of my body, I was adamant that once I was able I needed to continue working towards my goal; no matter what it took. At first I admit that I was a little shocked, somewhat confused, and curious as to why someone would think so. While the gravity of these words weighed on my brain, I mulled them over occasionally.

Chronic illness

I wanted to create a thread focusing on applying to college with an existing or previously-overcome illness, chronic or otherwise. I am someone who has a chronic illness POTS and is currently in the belly of the decision notifications beast. I, like everyone else, have been having a difficult time with rejections especially.
He is considering writing about it in his application essay. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I am afraid that it could be held against him if they were afraid that he would have to miss a lot of classes and not be able to keep up. On the other hand, maybe it could be seen as a positive in that he has had consistently good grades in spite of everything and he could write about what he has had to overcome. He's my oldest, so I have no experience with this sort of thing.
